"I was born in the oldest city of the North of Russia, Veliky Ustyug. You may know it as the birthplace of Santa Claus. Allow me to share a holiday memory with you on the eve of the New Year.

One day, when the trees had already been bought and the salads cut, and all the people were languishing in anticipation of the festive miracle, we were on a night flight to Murmansk. There was a sleepy atmosphere on the plane.

The commander called me into the cockpit, and when I opened the door I was surprised at the brightness of the colours that illuminated the sky: it was the northern lights from 10,000 metres above. I felt it would be " criminal " to enjoy such beauty alone and rushed to the passengers to share it with them and draw their attention to the portholes. Each of them looked through the glass and seemed to be dreaming of something different. I hope that the New Year's holidays will make each of their wishes come true.
